A major force in the office equipment market, had developed a new printer that generated computer-driven, multiple color transparencies for overhead projectors. The project manager and the product engineer realized they would need an accessory product-a self-sealing protective cover. They knew what they wanted but didn't know where to have it manufactured. Their efforts to find a supplier were unsuccessful until they contacted Enbee.

The product presented a unique problem: the protective device could not react with the wet ink on the transparency. Enbee created a special acetate sleeve that incorporated double-faced tape and three-ring hole punching to facilitate storage and display. Enbee successfully modified its tooling and machinery to efficiently produce a product that meets the companies strict quality control standards.

A Publisher was issuing a book entitled Red Snow, a murder mystery set in Siberia, by a little-known Russian writer. Since the author spoke no English and couldn't go on a publicity tour to promote his book, the book jacket had to be distinctive to draw attention (and sales) at retail displays.

Their concept was to create a transparent plastic book cover with a front pocket containing stage snow that would move over the title like actual falling flakes. A great idea, but the company was running into problems and running out of time finding a producer.

Enbee produced the cover. We created a rigid non plasticized PVC jacket with scored flaps and a front pocket that held the "snow." We recommended PVC because it readily adheres to itself and will not react with book cover ink. To manufacture in volume, Enbee retooled existing machinery to operate in-line, a technique that was developed to create this product and which has now become a standard. Dutton not only got the book jacket it was looking for, it was able to maintain its publication schedule, and it received enormous publicity for its unique approach.
